A prototype scheme for resource flow analysis
Sectoral benchmark system
Development is in progress on a ready made 'low-tech' spreadsheet template. This can be generated directly from the REAP system, with data simply extracted for any industrial sector. This contains pre-generated data for that sector, normalized by GVA and number of employees, including:
- Energy by fuel and CO2
- Transport by mode
- Waste & recycling fractions
- Exports & imports
- Overall footprint, direct & indirect
Businesses can then fill in as much of this as they can or need to. Each item they fill in will generate intelligence on benchmarking of direct value to themselves. Items not filled in still have the default values for that sector.
- This will be fed into existing business environment programs such as Enworks
- Also to industrial / trade associations, who have more detailed knowledge of opportunities in each sector
- In the future, best practice / best available technology data would be compiled for each of the above
