Moston Vale Tree
Size: 24 hectares
Location: Manchester
Local partnership: Manchester City Council, New East Manchester Ltd, Groundwork Manchester Salford and Trafford, Red Rose Forest, Irk Valley Project
Economic benefit: This site has a close link with newly created image and values at Central Business Park and will compliment the Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder area.
Site background: A former landfill site, Moston Vale was closed for tipping in 1974.  At present, the site is used for little more than casual dog walking, and anti-social behaviour has been a serious problem across the site.  The intention is to vastly improve landscape, management and the publics use ofthe site and Moston Vale is also providing some interesting biodiversity elements close to the newly created Central Business Park
At present, landowners for Moston Vale are being contacted to finalise tenure arrangements. Stage two investigations have been completed and are in the reporting phase. A brief risk report is to be produced following these investigations, to aid lease negotiations.

A community consultation and design process has been completed with Groundwork Manchester, Salford and Trafford, co-ordinated by the Forest Commission and this exercise has linked into the consultation exercises being undertaken by the Local Authority under the Neighbourhood Renewal scheme for the area.

The Forestry Commission is currently assessing the capital works programme to finalise a delivery plan with the Community Foresters, landscape architects and Groundwork and delivery is planned on site for the [?check?]quarter of 2005 / 2006. Initial discussions about Housing Market Renewal Funding have begun with Groundwork and The Local Authority.
