Groundwork’s Moston Vale community officer, Sophie Armstrong, is working with Harpurhey Neighbourhood Project and local residents to collect old photographs and records observations about life in and around the vale.

A multi-purpose project to bring all generators of the community together to celebrate Moston Vale as well as collecting valuable information that will assist Newlands to regenerate the area in sympathy with its unique history, it is also hoped the project will culminate in a book about the history of the area.

Moston Vale has a colourful past, which was once overlooked by the employees and patients of the now demolished Manchester Fever Hospital and was where Manchester United started its life at the neighbour district of Newton Heath.
